Call or email with any questions you may have or feel free to sign up on our online registration portal! Scroll down for details.
Frist, schedule your check-in and checkout appointments and pay the deposit. Contact us for access to the online registration portal. We usually start a new session every 2 weeks, unless we're closed for family time. Check here for our upcoming schedule. You can register online or over the phone. The duration of your dog's stay is 12 or 13 nights, depending on your choices for check-in and checkout days. The training is the same either way, we just need to spread out appointments over two days so we can spend ample time with each individual/family.
All you need to bring is your dog's food, proof of current vaccinations (rabies, bordetella, parvo/distemper), and to make sure they're current on monthly flea control. The second payment is due at this time. You'll meet with us at our home for about 1 hour. We'll greet you at the door and give you a tour. We'll discuss your dog, your needs, training goals, and your responsibilities to maintain the training. Plus, you're encouraged to ask any and all questions.
We know you'll miss your dog! But relax and enjoy the break while your pup is away at "doggie camp." We'll keep you updated with two detailed weekly reports and pictures. The first report is emailed to you on the first Friday, and the second one is on the Thursday before your pup goes home. Pictures are posted on the Saturday in the middle of your dog's stay.
You'll receive a 2-hour lesson (or 3 hours with 2+ dogs) when you return to pick up your educated pup. The final payment is due at this time. We'll discuss your dog's training, the psychology behind it, watch your dog do all of the commands on video, and then walk you through a well-mannered reunion. You'll practice everything hands-on with your dog. A link to download your dog's video is emailed to you after your lesson, plus you'll receive our comprehensive handbook and your dog's prong training collar. In addition, your dog will be bathed before pick-up.
We emphasize leadership and communication so that you have the relationship and skills necessary to address every issue, whether it be obedience commands or behavior modification. We'll also cover solutions for your specific concerns. You'll be amazed how you can use the same techniques applied to commands and manners to resolve virtually anything! We encourage all involved adults and older children to attend.
Follow the instructions given to maintain obedience commands, daily manners, and overcome behavioral challenges. Your practice sessions are only 10 minutes a day, 5 days a week! Use what you learn to control problem behaviors in the moment as they occur. See the results as you continue to be consistent! Contact us anytime for additional help. Calls, emails, and texts are welcome. You can even return for one-on-one help at no charge, with no limits! We'll always be here for you!
Prong collars may look ugly but they're amazing at simulating the corrective nip that one dog would give to another, even a mother to her baby. Used correctly, it is safe, natural, effective, and, most importantly, humane!
All discipline is balanced with generous and affectionate praise and cuddles. We're not treat-based. Read more about our method here!
We only use Herm Sprenger brand collars which are high-quality with blunted tips and a smoothly gliding chain that doesn't grab skin. We may recommend an e-collar for some manners-based problems, such as barking, but their use is optional and not essential to our training.
You can get off-leash with a prong collar! This method emphasizes your relationship with your dog, earning their respect and focus. If your dog knows the commands, is well-practiced, and respects you, he should listen to you, even off-leash. In most cases, it happens without you even noticing. Bear in mind that some dogs/breeds will always struggle with self-control, but we'll help you understand your dog's individual abilities. Home and yard off-leash is achievable for almost every dog. We show all our clients how to work towards this on their own, without spending more money on "advanced" training. If you need help, additional lessons and support are free!
We encourage our clients to do their own research and feel comfortable with prongs. Unfortunately, you will find horrible articles about them. These are almost always from people who have never used one, or sadly, seen them used cruelly. The best place for honest feedback from actual users is reviews on sites that sell Herm Sprenger prong/pinch collars, such as chewy.com and petsupplies.com. We purchase our collars from bridgeportk9equipment.com.
Before proceeding, read the above information and the program details, or give us a call or email! If you're dealing with aggression, protective behavior, or serious anxiety, please call or email us first. All enrollment details will be reviewed and are subject to cancellation with a refund.
